A Dent woman is out almost $2,000 as the result of a phone scam. A person who claimed to be an attorney called the woman, who lives near Star Lake, and asked her to send money to cover her grandson’s cost of a crash and DWI arrest, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office. The victim sent the scammer almost $2,000 by money order. She later discovered that her grandson had not been involved in a crash, and reported the scam. The sheriff’s office is investigating.
Six vehicle accidents were reported in Otter Tail County over this past weekend. No severe injuries were reported. First, a car-deer accident was reported at 3:44 p.m. on June 6, at the intersection of Highways 8 and 75, north of Bluffton. The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office said slight damage to the vehicle was reported by the owner. Highway 41, southwest of Vergas, was the scene of a vehicle accident reported at 11:44 a.m. on June 7.
