The Second Hand Rose consignment store in downtown Perham will be closing according to Co-Owner Jen Carlson.

Carlson and her husband, Keith, have owned consignment businesses in New York Mills and Perham since 2017. Jen has run the New York Mills business during that time while her daughter, Lexi, has managed the Perham store.

The Carlsons have been renting the building where their Perham business is located, 114 First Ave. S., since July 2017.

The New York Mills location, at 97 Miller St., is the larger of the two stores, with more than 3,500 square feet of floor space. The Carlsons plan to move their Perham consignments to New York Mills and operate from one store.

“I have found having two stores to be very time-consuming,” Jen Carlson said. “It takes away from family time.”

Second Hand Rose was a consignment business at different locations in Perham for 20 years before the Carlson’s bought is from Sharon Imdieke.

KLN Family Brands has been renting space in the Perham store from the Carlsons to retail Tuffy’s Pet Foods and Kenny’s Candies products. These products are expected to be sold at a different location in Perham in the future.

Carlson said the lease on the Perham building will expire in December.
