School store now open in PHS
The Perham High School unveiled its latest feature earlier this month. On Dec. 10 the new school store opened in the great hall just outside the gym.
Store Manager and Paraprofessional Tanya Beachy said after all the new construction the store was put on the back burner, "we're rolling into it." Beachy said the store's objective is to outfit the Yellowjacket community in garments that show "how proud we are of where we belong".
The store stocks a wide array of Perham-themed apparel for the whole family including hats, sweatshirts, polos, baby onesies and water bottles. Beachy said a lot more products are coming in as they get more comfortable.
The stores revenue goes back into the district, but Beachy said the store isn't intended to be a fundraiser for the district by charging too much; prices are kept low enough to cover costs and bring in more products.
For now the store is only open after school and during events in the evening. "We need to feel for the target market," Beachy said. "We don't want kids wondering in when they should be in class." The school could experiment with open hours during lunchtime.
After the final bell before winter break the store was busy with students, staff and parents stocking up before Christmas.
