Terrie Anderson is renovating her former Ghost Runner cleaning business into an eBay retail store right here in Perham. However, the change-over is not a fast process, according to Anderson.

"It's not like having a garage sale and you put your stuff out, and everything goes one day," she said.

Customers who have items to sell will get a price on their item or items and then it is placed on a shelf. Anderson also places the merchandise on eBay where bidders or customers will bid or to buy the item either for a different price or at the listed price.

Anderson opened in the former Ghost Runner building in Perham on April 1.

"It's just a nice community to have a store like this, there are a lot of tourists," said Anderson. She also has customers who come from the Fargo and Detroit Lakes areas.

This business is unique in different ways, according to Anderson. She is in charge of everything that needs to be done as she has no other employees, and a crucial element is getting items online quickly.

"I am comfortable doing that right now, with the volume, but I may be looking to add people later," she said.

She also carefully packs the purchased merchandise, especially fragile items so they don't break enroute, for shipping to the buyer.

If there is an item that garners a lot of bidder attention, the seller may earn more money from the eBay retail store than it would in a garage sale. If a couple of bidders really want an item, the price may increase, she said.

Anderson makes sure the person who plans to sell an item receives most of the profit.

"I look it up on eBay, to see what it is selling for at that time," said Anderson.

The starting price for an item is based on what the sale price is and not a non-sale price.

Anderson carries a wide variety of merchandise in the Perham store from party invitations, paintings, antiques and even salt and pepper shakers, as well as much more.

To prevent double-selling items, she removes sold merchandise from the shelves or her eBay site immediately, she said.

Around the first of the month she sends checks out to people who sold items during that month.

The building Anderson has is big enough for an expansion and for her to offer an attractive layout.

"I do want to expand the store," she said. "There are a couple rooms with more shelving, too."

She plans to run numerous sales at the The eBay retail store over the summer, she said, and add a new sign to the building.

The store is located at 745 W Main St, in Perham, Minn.

The store is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and is closed Tuesdays and Sundays.
