AARP providing tax help in Perham and beyond
AARP is providing free tax preparation in New York Mills, Perham and Wadena through April.
Started in 1968 by four volunteers, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is now the nation's largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation program.
AARP volunteers are trained and IRS-certified each year to ensure their knowledge of revisions to the U.S. tax code. With their help, taxpayers received $1.3 billion refunds. By using AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, these low-to moderate-income taxpayers also avoid preparation fees and pitches for high-interest tax credit or refund loans.
Times and locations for the local free AARP Foundation tax preparation:
New York Mills, Backwoods BBQ, 102 E. Centennial 84 Dr, Tuesdays, noon-4 p.m. through April 17.; Perham, New Creations Lutheran Church, 295 Coney St. W, Wednesays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., through April 11; Wadena, Wadena Senior Citizens Center, 220 S.
