Function, form and style are Carol Myhre's philosophies.
The interior designer and owner of At the Window moved her Fargo-based business to Perham about a year ago and hopes her 30-years of experience and familiarity to the area will make her a successful addition to the community.
In Perham, she is a showcase priority dealer of Hunter Douglas window treatments. Myhre offers products found nowhere else in the area, she said, at up to 30 percent off retail price. She offers full lines of window covering, cabinets and counter tops. She also specializes in designing kitchens.
She offers the latest technology, with almost all kinds of window shades now able to be operated with remote controls. She also takes pride in the team she has to install the products she sells.
"My installers are all certified and I've been working with them for 25 years," she said.

When customers walk into her showroom, located at 650 3rd Ave. SE, they will find a wide variety of samples to look at.
"It provides customers with the best possible buying experience," she said.
Customers can see samples of shutters, blinds, fabrics and much more.
Myhre isn't new to Perham. Her family has had a lake home in Otter Tail County for more than 30 years, she said, and her love for the people brought her back to stay. Before locating to Otter Tail County full time she worked primarily in window treatments in the Fargo area, designing for places such as North Dakota State University, her alma mater.
She offers products available for all price ranges, Myhre said, from cost-effective one-inch metal blinds to custom shutters. She also said until the end of the year, federal tax credits are being offered to customers who buy certain energy-efficient Hunter Douglas products.
The variety helps Myhre serve her clientele better, she says.
"It's your style, your color, your budget," she said.
She also works around the client's schedule, she said. About 90 percent of her business is shop at home, coming to the customer.

Myhre says she loves her job and hopes new customers will contact her for their home needs.
"I enjoy helping people," she said. "I'm a problem solver."
Originally studying to become an architect, she obtained a business degree from NDSU in 1991. She also served as the first woman president of the Fargo Optimist Club.
Her husband recently retired from NDSU, where he worked for 26 years as a cabinetmaker. The couple has three sons, who all live in the Twin Cities area.
