Shearer's Foods, LLC, announced Wednesday its long-term growth plans to invest $8 million in its Perham manufacturing facility.

This investment will allow the company to improve its operational effectiveness, enhance the overall associate experience, and expand production in Perham in order to better serve key customers.

"We are excited to announce this investment in our Perham manufacturing facility," Group Vice President of Operations Scott Reinard said. "Shearer's continues to outpace the growth of its primary market, the salty snack category. Our Perham associates deliver high-quality products on a reliable basis, and this facility's location makes it an optimal site to support our continued growth through investment."

Plant engineering is already underway. Equipment has been ordered and is planned to be installed in the first quarter of 2019.

Shearer's also announced it will close its four on-site medical clinics at the start of 2019, including one located at its Perham facility. The company's investment in the clinic program will be redeployed toward maintaining a low-cost, competitive benefits program for all of its associates across the U.S. and in Canada. The on-site medical clinics were not available to all associates.

"We are committed to providing our associates with access to a competitive and comprehensive benefits program," said Chief Human Resource Officer Lisa George. "Our focus is on helping all of our associates prepare for their futures and maintain their health and well being while offering affordable access to health care."
