Gedde joins Elders Home and Heritage Manor as administrator
Joan Gedde started as the Administrator of Elders' Home and Heritage Manor in New York Mills Oct. 16. She brings many years of experience to the organization. Gedde has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and worked in acute care and long-term care settings, including 10 years as a director of nursing in nursing homes. She returned to the University of Minnesota to complete the Long Term Care Administration program and has worked as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator for 24 yrs. Most recently, Gedde was Executive Director at the facility in Henning, and while there she also had a Senior Executive role with Golden Living. In this role she also provided interim administrator coverage at sister facilities, and orientation/mentoring of new Executive Directors within the organization. She is a lifelong resident of the area and lives by Ottertail with her husband.
"I am very excited to be at Elders' Home as it is a wonderful facility with great staff, residents, and board members. I am looking forward to being part of this caring group and providing outstanding quality care and services. I am passionate about long term care and the variety of care needs we can meet including short term rehab," Gedde said.
Nancy Adams also started on Oct. 16 and is the Director of Nursing at Elders' Home. She lives just outside of Battle Lake with her husband and grandson. She has worked in long term care for most of her career, working in all nursing roles from nursing assistant to director of nursing, has worked in Hospice and Home Health and was a surveyor for long term care facilities with the State of Minnesota. She has been a consultant for long term care facilities for the past 13 years, working throughout the United States in various interim nursing management roles.
