Exercising provides many health benefits for senior citizens, but getting started can be difficult. Perham Area Community Center trainer Taylin Schleicher shared some advice on how to begin.
The PACC hosted a grand opening for their brand new Adventureland on Thursday, Oct. 27.
The pandemic has had an enormous financial impact on businesses and organizations at home and abroad, and the Perham Area Community Center, a staple of the town for over 30 years, is one of those caught up in the struggle.
Construction on the PACC Hub project in Perham — a plan to renovate the Perham Area Community Center and rebuild on the old Perham High School's land to create a space for Empowering Kids and the Boys and Girls Club — has been met with some unexpected bumps in the road.

Landmark Liquors of Perham set a new record for their largest single-day sales on Friday, July 2. On this day, they made a total of $60,545.
The PACC is in the process of being remodeled, and, following demolition, the old Perham High School building is being turned into the Hub, a space to be occupied by Empowering Kids and the Boys and Girls Club.
At a City Council meeting on Monday, May 10, two bond sales for the project were approved.
In a public hearing, it was approved for $4,750,000 general obligation sales tax revenue bonds. Following this, the 2021 project was approved for property tax abatements prior to the sale of the bonds on May 10.
I see the city (Perham taxpayers) has purchased the old school; you know the one that was not fit for our kids, for $72,860.85 and will be the new PACC/Hub project.
The city of Perham has received $255,253 in state CARES Acts funds to use for COVID-related expenses that must be used by Nov. 15, and then what is left needs to be signed over to the county, which has already received $7 million in funds. The Perham City Council heard how the city is planning to use its funds at the Aug. 26, Committe of the Whole Meeting.

The old Perham High School is being turned into more community space.
The Perham City Council approved the updated proposals for BHH Partners Planners Arch for the Perham Area Community Center and Hub remodeling projects at the regular City Council meeting on Aug. 10.
The United Way Stuff the Bus at the Perham Area Community Center on Tuesday, Aug. 4, was a success with a lot of school supplies collected and over $2,000 raised. Donations were made by KLN, Perham Family Dentistry, United Community Bank, and Perham Dairy Queen. Mike Winjum (right) of Dairy Queen also donated Blizzards to those working the event.
