Earlier this year the Boy Scouts of America made history by announcing that girls, as well as boys, will be able to participate in its iconic Cub Scout program for the first time. Pack 321, chartered by the Perham Rotary Club, will be accepting boys and girls into their program this fall during their Fall Sign Up meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Perham Center for the Arts (former St. Stan's Church) 101 5th St NE, Perham. Cub Scouting is a neighborhood-centered program designed for youth in grades 1-5. It combines fun with educational activities and lifelong values to teach youth to be self-reliant, dependable and caring individuals. It also invigorates parents to help their child strengthen character, develop good citizenship and enhance both mental and physical fitness. Additionally, the program provides youth with positive peer groups and tools to shape their future. The Sept. 18 meeting will provide information on meeting times, program cost, uniform, activities and camps. A parent is required to attend in order to complete the youth application. Youth do not need to have prior Cub Scout involvement.
