The Perham Health Foundation invites the community to Blue at the Barn that will take place Sunday, Sept. 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Vineyard on Marion Lake, 41254 Marion Drive North, Perham. Proceeds will go toward The Connection - a local, one-stop referral center for all senior services offered in Perham and the surrounding area. The aging population in the Perham region is getting older. Many do not need the care found at a retirement living center or a nursing home, but several do need some light assistance. The Connection gives these aging individuals and their families a single person to contact who can help coordinate the services they need. They can simply click, call or visit when services are needed and they are not sure how to receive help. The community navigator will introduce them to agencies that offer services and follow-up after to make sure needs are met. We provide a higher quality of life by keeping people in their homes and connecting them with local businesses and nonprofits. The Connection is supported with a $150,000 grant from the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation. Your support of Blue at the Barn provides a local funding match for the navigator position and will extend the number of years the program will be available to our community. The Connection is a collaboration between Perham Health, Otter Tail County, Land of the Dancing Sky Agency on Aging, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. The evening includes a silent auction, raffle, tour of the vineyard, music, door prizes and a delicious Italian-inspired menu catered by Brew Ales and Eats. Tickets are $65 per person and can be purchased at Perham Health or online at perhamhealth.org/blueatthebarn.
