The ceiling at Ma's Little Red Barn in Perham is literally draped with holiday spirit.
Since Thanksgiving, local students and community members have been answering the question, "What are you thankful for?" They write their answers on strips of paper, which Ma's staff then link together and hang up. The chain has gotten long enough to cover about half the ceiling, and it's not done yet.
The store will continue to add new links through Christmas; community members are welcome to stop in and add links of their own. Kids from St. Henry's, St. Paul's, Heart of the Lakes Elementary and Prairie Wind Middle School have already done so.
So far, many of them have said they're thankful for family and friends, but other answers have been less common. One student, for example, is thankful for "refrigerators," another for "taste buds."
