The Boys & Girls Club of the Perham Area is one of many nonprofit organizations throughout the state that will once again ask Minnesotans to display their record-breaking generosity by donating to their favorite charities online at www.GiveMN.org during the third annual "Give to the Max Day" on Nov. 16.

"We are thrilled for our Perham Unit of Boys & Girls Club to participate for the first time in this exciting online giving campaign," said Sue Trnka, the Club's resource development director. "Many donors enjoy the ease of online giving as well as the satisfaction that their donations have an immediate impact within the local community."

Money donated to Boys & Girls Club will directly benefit its mission to provide area youth with a safe, positive environment to spend time after school and throughout the summer and participate in activities to encourage academic, social and physical development.

"We set single-day records for philanthropic giving in both 2009 and 2010 and want to keep that streak going in 2011," said Dana Nelson, executive director of GiveMN.org, which debuted in fall 2009 as the first-of-its-kind giving website and sponsors Give to the Max Day. "This is a day for us to come together as Minnesotans and show our support for the nonprofit organizations that work tirelessly to improve our communities."

During last year's Give to the Max Day, more than 42,000 donors logged on to GiveMN.org. The result: more than $10 million raised for more than 3,400 Minnesota nonprofits, whose missions range from feeding the hungry to protecting the environment to promoting the arts. GiveMN.org hopes to again raise millions for thousands of nonprofits, showcasing Minnesota's unparalleled generosity to the world.

"Donations to our Clubs on Give to the Max Day immediately benefit the local children and families we serve," said Pat Petermann, executive director of Boys & Girls Club of Detroit Lakes and its Perham Unit. "On an average day we see 41 kids come through our doors at the Perham Unit after school. Just as our families need us to be here for their kids, we need the support of the community to make it possible to continue offering the services we do."

Anyone wishing to contribute to the Club on Give to the Max Day can do so by logging on to www.GiveMN.org and searching for Boys & Girls Club of Detroit Lakes- Perham Unit. Give to the Max Day runs from 12:00 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 16, 2011.
