Historic tour of Perham to be held June 15
The Otter Tail County Historical Society will be leading a tour of historic downtown Perham on Thursday, June 15, 7 p.m. Meet at NP Park.
A walk through Perham’s downtown district reveals a treasure trove of historic buildings and details. Intricate brick work, Italianate and Art Deco stylings, and odd symbols adorn many of the structures. Who constructed these buildings? What were they originally used for? What stories lie behind the facades?
The tour goes beyond architectural details to reveal stories about the people and events that make up Perham’s heritage. What pool hall owner who, when arrested by the sheriff for selling illegal liquor, paid his fine in pennies to annoy the county attorney? This and many other questions will be answered during our walk…including details surrounding the legendary case of John Trivitz.
After the tour stop by the East Otter Tail Historical Museum for light refreshments.
Cost for the tour is $6. For more information contact OTCHS at (218) 736-6038 or find us on Facebook.
