Following is a list of closures and cancellations we have received from around the area. If you do not see your event on the list, call ahead to be sure that it is taking place as scheduled.

Public schools closed

Gov. Tim Walz announced that all K-12 schools in Minnesota would be closed starting this week. At this time, classes at the schools are expected to resume on Monday, March 30.

  • Detroit Lakes Public Schools: Closed Tuesday, March 17, through Friday, March 27.

  • Frazee-Vergas schools: Closed Tuesday, March 17, through Friday, March 27.

  • Perham-Dent: Closed Wednesday, March 18, through Friday, March 27.

  • Lake Park-Audubon: Closed Wednesday, March 18, through Friday, March 27.

Monday, March 16

  • Perham Senior Center, Monday, March 16, has been closed until further notice.
  • Lake Agassiz Regional Library has canceled all events, programs, homebound deliveries and meetings at its facilities — including Detroit Lakes — through March 31, and all locations will be closed to the public until further notice starting Tuesday, March 17.
  • As of 8 p.m. Sunday, March 15, all operations and events at Detroit Mountain Recreation Area have been suspended until further notice.
  • All-City Band Festival set for March 16-17 at Detroit Lakes High School is canceled.
  • The History Museum of East Otter Tail County will be closed while the public schools are closed, on March 30 the museum will reevaluate the situation.

Tuesday, March 17

  • Detroit Lakes Public Schools: There will be no school on Tuesday, March 17, through Friday, March 27, according to a post on the school district's website. "School is scheduled to resume some form of instruction on Monday, March 30," according to the post.
  • Frazee-Vergas schools will be closed starting Tuesday.

  • All events, programs, homebound deliveries and meetings at Detroit Lakes Public Library will be canceled from today through at least March 31, and the library itself will be closed to the public until further notice. Call 218-847-2168 for more information.

  • Detroit Lakes Area League of Women Voters: Tuesday, March 17, meeting at La Barista is canceled.

  • Lake Region Arts Council Board meeting and Spring Project Grant review, starting at 6:30 p.m., will move to a conference call only.   • Otter Tail County Board of Commissioners’ Tuesday, March 17, meeting in Perham has been moved back to Fergus Falls.
  • All-City Band Festival Grand Concert set for 7 p.m. at Detroit Lakes High School has been canceled.
  • The Perham Area Community Center will be closing at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, through Sunday, March 29. This closure includes those with 24/7 Access.
  • Perham Area Public Library's weekly Tuesday morning Story Time is canceled until further notice.
  • Viking Library System's Bookmobile services are temporarily suspended until March 27th.
  • Comet Theater, Perham, will be closed from Tuesday, March 17, through Thursday, March 26.
  • The Detroit Lakes Community & Cultural Center facilities will close to the public at 5 p.m. and remain closed through March 27.

Wednesday, March 18

  • All K-12 schools in Minnesota (including Perham-Dent and Lake Park-Audubon school districts) will close Wednesday, March 18, through at least March 27, Gov. Tim Walz said Sunday.
  • The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources public meeting about deer and deer management in Detroit Lakes has been canceled. All of the spring deer open houses have been canceled, and may be rescheduled at later dates.
  • SuLaine's Antique Mall will be closing temporarily beginning March 18.
  • Crochet Group at the Detroit Lakes Public Library is canceled.

Thursday, March 19

  • Food for Thought Lunchtime Learning session on "Photography as Art" in the Holmes Art Cellar has been postponed. 218-844-7469.
  • The Detroit Lakes Public Library's Toddler Storytime event on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. is canceled until further notice.
  • Family Coloring Night at the Detroit Lakes Public Library is canceled.
  • Touring documentary play "SEVEN," 7:30 p.m. at the Historic Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes, has been canceled. 218-844-7469.

Friday, March 20

  • The 16th Annual Minnesota North Area Al-Anon Big Ole Roundup, set for March 20-22 at the Holiday Inn in Alexandria, has been canceled.
  • The Babysitting Basics course at the Perham Area Public Library has been canceled. 218-298-0598.
  • Quilting Club at the Detroit Lakes Public Library is canceled.
  • The Farm to Table fundraising dinner set for 6 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Public Library has been tentatively rescheduled for April 17. Call or text Kelly at 757-450-0920 for more information.

  • Both '60s Saturday Film presentations at the Detroit Lakes Public Library are canceled.
  • The Lake Region Builders Association Home & Sport Show set for March 21-22 at Kent Freeman Arena in Detroit Lakes has been canceled.
  • The Detroit Lakes Public Library's weekly Family Storytime event on Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. is canceled until further notice.
  • The Becker County Republican Party has rescheduled its party convention to April 18 at Spitfire Bar and Grill in Detroit Lakes. The event previously was scheduled for Saturday, March 21.
  • The Ottertail Spring Fling at the Ottertail Community Center has been canceled.

Tuesday, March 24

  • The Rotary Meatball Dinner, sponsored by the DL Breakfast Rotarians at M State in Detroit Lakes is canceled.
  • The Library Club gathering, Teen Writers Group gathering and Spinning/Sock Knitter demonstration at the Detroit Lakes Public Library are all canceled.
  • Perham Area Public Library's weekly Tuesday morning Story Time is canceled until further notice.

Wednesday, March 25

  • The Caring Cup support group for community members who are dealing with the loss of a loved one, which meets on the second and last Wednesday of every month at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, has been suspended until April 15.

Thursday, March 26

  • The Community Co-ops of Lake Park annual meeting has been postponed. The meeting was to take place at the Lake Park American Legion.

Friday, March 27

  • A fish dinner at St. Henry’s Church Basement in Perham has been canceled.
  • Baby Bounce at the Detroit Lakes Public Library is canceled.
  • The Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce 2020 Economic Development Summit is postponed. 218-847-9202.

Saturday, March 28

  • The Perham Sportsman's Club's Firearms Safty Training has been canceled until further notice.

Monday, March 30

  • Empowering Kids Autism Summit, March 30, is postponed until further notice.

Tuesday, March 31

  • Perham Area Public Library's weekly Tuesday morning Story Time is canceled until further notice.

  • The Perham Area Chamber Choice Awards banquet, set for April 2 at The Cactus, has been rescheduled. The event will take place sometime in May, according to a release from the chamber. In addition, the chamber's April Power Hour meeting has been canceled; the next meeting will be May 12.

  • A fish dinner at St. Henry’s Church Basement in Perham has been canceled.

Saturday, April 4

  • The Spring Assembly for Minnesota North Area Al-Anon, set to take place April 4-5 at the Grand Rapids Eagles Club, has been canceled.

Thursday, April 9

  • Perham Health's Healthy Futures 2020 has been postponed until further notice.

Saturday, April 18

  • A Tribute to Glen Campbell concert has been canceled. Those who have tickets that would like to receive a refund should contact the Perham Center for the Arts.

Friday, April 24

  • The Feed My Starving Children Mobile Food Pack event Pack at the PACC has been postponed until Sept. 11-12 at the Perham Area Community Center.
