Northwoods Assembly and Teen Girls in Faith will be joining together this Saturday, Aug. 10 from 3-10 p.m. at the Pioneer Grounds in Perham along with other churches and community leaders to present The Extreme Tour.
The Extreme Tour began as a grassroots project of “The Extreme,” a cultural outreach project started by Ted Bruun and a small group of other Idaho residents in 1994. The purpose of The Extreme was to use extreme sports and music events to reach at-risk and counter culture youth with services and resources that would assist them in making positive, as well as healthy, decisions for a successful life.
Eventually these events began to take place outside of Idaho, reaching all corners of the United States, and The Extreme Tour was born.
The Extreme Cultural Project in Idaho was a faith-based effort, as is The Extreme Tour. However, then, just as it is now, tour events are not aimed at a religious market. Rather, they’re aimed at a mainstream market, and held in mainstream venues and settings.
Over the past 20 years, The Extreme Tour has grown exponentially, becoming the largest and longest running extreme sports and music tour in the world. The tour currently visits 100 communities each year in the United States, and this number is set to go up dramatically as the tour reaches out internationally starting this year.

The tour in Perham will include Brian Hill from Crosspoint Church, Abandoning Sunday, Voices of the Broken, Living Scars, and Patrick Geddes in concert. In addition, Jeff Morris will be speaking and youth will have a chance to win $100.
Cost of the event is $10 at the gate, or $30 for a family of four or more. Food vendors will be on site.
