Two long-standing community banks, Farmers State Bank of Dent and United Community Bank of Perham, have officially merged.
As of Monday, the banks have been operating under the United Community Bank name.
Charlie Cavanagh, president and CEO of United Community Bank, said the merger has gone well, with a "pretty seamless transition for customers."
To ensure the smooth transition, a lot of work was done behind-the-scenes of both banks leading up to the merger, he added
Customers may notice only a few small changes, such as additional Internet banking options and other features that size limited at Farmers State.

"And those are all positive things," Cavanagh added. "The day-to-day kinds of things shouldn't be an issue going forward."
United Community Bank will be holding an event this summer to celebrate the merger. Scheduled for June 15 from 5-9 p.m., the celebration will be held at the baseball park in Dent. Bob and the Beachcombers and Nick the Magician will perform, and pork, salads and sides will be served.
"We're excited about the opportunity to continue the model of community banking that we already do, and that Farmers State did, as well," Cavanagh said. "We had a similar celebration last year for our 100th, and we look forward to doing it again in Dent in June."
Sandra Waldon, business banker and marketing officer at United Community Bank, called the merger a significant move.
"This makes more of a presence for United Community Bank," she said. "We're so community minded; we pride ourselves on what we give back to the community."
