Helicopter drops eggs high above Arvig Park

A crowd watched in awe as a helicopter landed in the field of Perham's Arvig Park on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 18. Cub Scout Pack 321, chartered by the Perham Rotary Club, held their egg drop that day. For this activity, kids wrap an egg up safely in a package to be dropped from high in the sky. The goal? To have their egg survive without a crack.

This year, instead of dropping the packages from a tall building or a ladder, they were loaded into a helicopter and dropped into the Arvig Park field below. After, kids raced to grab their packages, ripping them open with their parents and other adults to see if their egg made it.

In the field where the eggs were dropped, three orange cones labeled as a "house" sat in the grass. The three scouts whose eggs that landed closest to these "houses" received an a Dairy Queen gift card.

All those whose egg didn't break got their picture taken by the sign that said, "My egg survived the crash. September 10, 2021 Helicopter Egg Drop."

The participating his were excitedly smiling, enjoying this educational morning activity.
