Earned her wings
Miss Kathy A. Westover of Perham was recently presented her stewardess wins with Northwest Orient Airlines after completing five weeks of specializes training at the airline's training center at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russ Westover of Perham.
Senior citizen program yields good results
The Senior Citizen Volunteer Program was organized in our area seven months ago. Coordinators Mrs. Al Gray and Mrs. James Wilkowski report there are 36 volunteers presently active and they have donated 805 hours to various activities. The volunteers have visited shut-ins and senior citizens in their homes, and have provided transportation to the doctors' offices, to church and other places.
Perham teacher pay
In Perham, the starting annual salary for a B.A. teacher is $6,350, with a maximum of $9,350. An M.A. starts at $6,950 and can earn a maximum of $10,250. These and thousands of other facts are evident in the just-published "Minnesota Salary Schedules, School Year 1969-70," the 19th such annual study conducted by the Minnesota Education Association.

School a player in PACC project
The Perham-Dent School Board has decided to become involved in the proposed expansion of the Perham Area Community Center. The board decided 6-1 last Wednesday to contribute up to $100,000 to the project. By doing so, the gym portion of the expansion will be enlarged beyond the most recent version of the plan.
Bambi comes a-visiting
It is not uncommon to hear of an area family adopting a stray dog or cat and keeping it as their own. On the Leonard Rastedt farm in Otterail, however, this story has a twist: The Rastedts have adopted "Bambi," a 2-year-old doe that seems as home on the farm as most deer do bolting through the woods. "She came one night last June," said Kristi, Leonard's daughter. "We discovered her laying in the yard. I could go up to her myself and she would sniff my hand."
'Yellowjacket Backer Hankies' on sale
Looking for the perfect stocking stuffer? The Perham Enterprise Bulletin is selling "Yellowjacket Backer Hankies." The hankies are yellow, 22-by-22 inches, and have the Yellowjacket Backer logo on them. Cost is only 43 for one hankie and $2.50 if you purchase five or more. The Perham High School National Honor Society and the Perham High School Coach's Association will also be selling the hankies. Each organization will receive proceeds from their sales.
