Retired from co-op
After 45 years Roman Vorgert retired from his position as manager of the Perham Cooperative Creamery at the end of December. Vorgert started at the creamery, which at the time was in danger of being shut down in 1923. It was the next year in 1924 that he was promoted to manager. In the 45 years that Vorgert has been at the creamy, things have changed with the adding of the dryer room in 1928 and the start of delivering pasteurized milk in 1943.
Child killed in accident
On Friday morning 2-year-old Joan Marie Feldt was rushed to Perham Memorial Hospital. She was taken to the hospital by her parents, Gerald and Arlene Feldt, when she accidentally inhaled a balloon. The attending doctors were unable to save her and Feldt died at noon of suffocation.
Sportsmen's Club event
Nearly 1,100 people attended the annual sausage and bean party put on by the Perham Sportsmen’s Club Thursday. Four hundred pounds of sausage, 50 gallons of coffee, as well as large amounts of beans, cold cuts, buns, and other foods, were served. The event started at 6:30 p.m. with a social hour in the 4-H Building. Lud Fellerer was the event’s emcee, in place of Bud Gorman, who was unable to make it to the event.

Snow Week begins
The theme of this year’s Snow Week at Perham High School is Winter Wonderland. This year Snow Week will take place Jan. 30 to Feb. 3. Similar to homecoming in the fall, Snow Week will feature a series of events and royalty from each grade. Students will vote for the Snow King and Queen on Jan. 30 with coordination taking place at 8:30 p.m. that day.
Vet clinic opens doors
Lakeland Vet Clinic in Perham is holding an open house Friday, Jan. 27, and Saturday, Jan. 28. They will be showing off their new renovations and introducing their new professional animal groomer, Amber Fehrenbach. There will be door prizes, refreshments and fun for children.
Navy man completes instruction
Electricians Mate 3rd Class Michael Allen Brasel, a 1993 Perham High School graduate and son of Elden and Carol Brasel, has completed the course of instruction at Naval Nuclear Power School Orlando, Fla. It is a 24-week school in reactor design and operations with intensive courses in mathematics, chemistry and electronics. Brasel is stationed at Naval Protopye Training Unit Idaho.
