Students purchase rainforest land
Third-graders at the Heart of the Lakes Elementary School are the proud owners of another chunk of the Costa Rican rainforest. The students raised the money to purchase the land through donations and fundraising, the land was then purchased for the Heart of the Lakes students by Nature Conservancy.
'Lack of interest' in Memorial Day
Memorial Day service in Perham will be changing this year. All ceremonies will be held at the Perham VFW club this year, according to Commander Larry Kempenich. This year there will not be any ceremonies at the Perham Memorial Home and there will be no Memorial Day Parade this year. The parade is canceled due to the fact that the Perham VFW's color guard is aging and the lack of interest from younger veterans in being in the color guard.
