Village filing begins Sept. 22
Local residents will have the opportunity to file for two Perham Village COuncil seats, currently held by Edgar Rosena and Marlin Zitzow, beginning Sept. 22. Interested persons may file either at the Village Clerks Office during regular hours that the office is open, or with Village Clerk, marlin Zitzow any time prior to the deadline. Filing will close Oct. 6. These are the only two local offices to be filled in the Nov. election.
Mrs. Jaycees fall regional set for Perham
On Sept. 26, the Perham Mrs. Jaycees will hostess the participating group at their fall region meeting. A luncheon meeting at the VFW club rooms is planned. Activities include a silent auction with the proceeds going to the regional Mrs. Jaycee project. The guest speaker will be Betty Blain, the stat President. Reservations are to be made by Sept. 19 with Eunice Diehl.
New nursing home open house Sunday.
Mr. Al Moe, Assistant Administrator at Memorial Hospital and HOmes in Perham, announced this week that the new memorial Nursing Home addition will officially be open Oct. 1, 1970. For those interested in seeing this modern addition, there will be an open house Sunday, Sept. 20, from 2-5 p.m. The open house will also include tours of Memorial Hospital and St. James Home, guided by personal from the various facilities.

Increase higher than projected 43-student increase
The school population in the six schools of the Perham-Dent School District is up by a total of 59 students this year. The schools are closing in on the 2,000-student mark, with a total of 1,920 at the start of the school year The increase of 59 a bit smaller then what the schools have seen in the past several years, but the smaller increase was expected.
Burglars hit Saturday night
A burglar or burglars broke into two businesses in the same building sometime Saturday night, according to the Perham Police Department, The culprits broke the glass in the door for Thrifty Cut and squeezed through the break to enter that business. They also pried open another exterior door leading to two businesses inside the building, American Family Insurance and Bekkerus Schoot and Co.
23-year-old killed in truck rollover near Ottertail
23-year-old Troy Louis Blashack of Bertha was killed in a one-vehicle accident near Ottertail late Saturday evening. According to law enforcement officials, Blashack and passenger Mark Decker, 23, of Ottertail, were riding in a pickup truck when it left the road and struck a tree near Long Lake. He was transported to Perham Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
