The dates for the next Firearm Safety Training are scheduled June 11 and 18, for students aged 12 by Oct. 1.
The firearm safety class consists of a minimum of 12 hours of classroom and field experience in the safe handling of firearms and hunter responsibility. The field experience allows students to learn and demonstrate commonly accepted principles of safety in hunting and the handling of firearms. It includes live fire on a rifle range. Students will experience both portions of the class on June 11 and 18. They are required to attend both days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Youth ages 11 and older can attend the class. The Firearms Safety Certificate becomes valid at age 11. Students must be 12 by Oct. 1.
The training will be held at the Perham Sportsmans Club at 42825 Harvest Avenue in Perham. Cost is $10. Lunch will be served both days on the course.
