Foster grandparents needed in Wadena and Otter Tail Counties

Do you have time and life experiences to share with classroom children and teachers? Would you like to receive a little tax-free spending money just for doing something you love?

The Central Minnesota Foster Grandparent Program offers older adults 55 and better, the opportunity to work with students in local schools or other non-profit agencies where there are children who need extra assistance, and the attention of caring and contributing adults. Typically school "Grandmas" and "Grandpas" are matched with classrooms where they can share their skills and personalities, benefiting the academic and social atmosphere at schools as a whole. The intergenerational bond between the senior volunteer and the children they serve is like magic! In many cases it can't be described and it can't be explained... It just works!

The Central MN Foster Grandparent Program is in the process of recruiting volunteers in the Perham area to work with children at area schools and afterschool programs. Following training, you will be placed in a school or preschool program to mentor children by spending time with them and offering them encouragement. Foster Grandparents volunteer at least 15 hours per week during the school and receive a tax-free stipend, in-service training and mileage reimbursement.

The Central MN Foster Grandparent Program is sponsored by Catholic Charities and is under the direction of the Corporation for National and Community Service.
