The memorial ornament fundraiser for the family of Charles Nord was a success thanks, to the generosity of the Perham community.

Perham Health sponsored the December fundraiser. National Guard Warrant Officer 2 Nord was killed Dec. 5 in a helicopter crash near St. Cloud.

"We are very pleased with the fundraiser for the Nord Family," said Patricia Ferguson, Perham Health's human resources director. "All the funds were presented to Kaley (the wife of Charles Nord) and she was very appreciative."

Out of respect for the privacy of the Nord family, the amount raised by Perham Health for the family will not be disclosed, Ferguson said.

After the fundraising period Perham Health was left with extra ornaments.

"We gave the extra ornaments to Kaley who brought them to the memorial service that was held for all three service members a month ago specifically for their unit and held in their hangar," Ferguson said. "She was able to give each member of the unit an ornament."

A gesture that Kaley told Perham Health was greatly appreciated by the unit members.
