The annual Camp Louis was held June 15-17 at the home of Louis and Eileen Westland's 5-L Ranch west of Perham.

4-Hers have the opportunity to camp with their horse at the Westlands.

Each year 4-H campers enjoy a variety of horsemanship activities that include: ground work and teaching manners; teaching horses to back up; English riding skills, obstacle coursework including walking over a bridge; and trail riding through the woods. Campers enjoy home cooked meals over the campfire, a song or two and a few good stories. Some camp in tents, others will sling a hammock in the barn. The entire Westland family volunteers their time, to provide food, and an incredible learning environment that the campers look forward to the event year after year. This is the ninth year of Camp Louis.

Anyone interested in the 4-H horse project can attend the weekly summer horse practice and speak to a 4-H leader. Practice is held every Tuesday at 6pm at the EOT Fairgrounds located in Perham.
