Perham area Veterans Day programs

Perham area military veterans, their family and community members are invited to a variety of special Veterans Day services happening Thursday, Nov. 11.

Take a moment to thank and honor U.S. military veterans by attending one or more of the special Veterans Day events going on in the Perham area on Thursday, Nov. 11.

Perham Public Schools Veterans Day Program

Veterans are welcome to attend a breakfast at 8:15 a.m. in the Perham High School commons. Following that, a Veterans Day program, open to the public, will begin at 9 a.m. in the high school gymnasium. The program will feature a guest speaker, who had not yet been announced at press time, and the school concert choir will sing "God Bless America." The band will play "America the Beautiful."

ITOW Veterans Museum Lunch

Veterans and their families are invited to the In Their Own Words Veterans Museum in Perham for a free lunch in honor of all those who have served and continue to serve. The lunch, sponsored by United Community Bank, will be going on from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

New York Mills Veterans Day Program and Lunch

A public program at the New York Mills School gym will begin at 10 a.m. Local student winners of the Patriot's Pen and Voice of Democracy essay contests will share their essays and the school band and choir will perform. A light lunch for veterans and their families will follow the program, with the meal served at the New York Mills VFW. Preceding those public events, at 9 a.m., the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3289 and Auxiliary will share a skit about the "Buddy Poppy Lady" with kindergarten through fifth grade students.

State of Minnesota virtual Veterans Day Program

The State of Minnesota will be holding a virtual Veterans Day Program. A 30-minute recorded program will be available starting at 8 a.m. on the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs website at . The MDVA invites all Minnesotans to celebrate and honor the veterans who have served the state and country.
