The Vergas Lions will present its first annual craft and health fair on Sat, Nov 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Vergas Community Center.

Crafts will be for sale from local, well-known craftsmen from Perham, Frazee, Detroit Lakes and Vergas. Booths will display woodworking, pottery, rugs and jewelry, among other creations.

There will be hourly door prizes, donated by vendors, given out to those present at the show.

There will also be a health booth featuring free testing for diabetes, mac degeneration and glaucoma.

All funds raised will help the Vergas Lions support various projects throughout the year. Some of these projects include the youth exchange program and the seeing eye dog program.

The Lions donate funds to help continue research at the University of Minnesota for mac degeneration, diabetics and glaucoma.

The Lions also help out locally for the Christmas baskets program and youth outreach programs. Frazee Vergas School, boy scouts and Vergas fire and rescue also see donations.

Currently, the Lions are working on a handicap ramp.

The Lions are also trying to spread the word about its hearing aid program, which helps people afford the devices.

The craft fair will replace the former dinner and dance fundraiser called the Harvest Ball.

Lunch will also be served by the Lions. Local merchants in town are also having specials.

Interested vendors can call Lions First Vice President Judy Meyer at 218-346-4226. Registration is open until Nov 8.
