Things will be hot all weekend, so why not blow off some steam at Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion in Rollag, Minn. The idea started when some area farmers decided to give a nod to the past and fire up an old Gaar Scott steam engine to thresh like the good old days. The basic concept still holds, but the scale continues to grow with more and more old machinery on display and in use.
For this year’s 60th anniversary, Gaar Scott engines are the feature, but plenty of other brands throughout the years will be on display. Watch the threshers work like the old days, or see the daily parade of tractors and other engines roll by or take one of the regularly scheduled train rides around the grounds. And don’t miss out on the hearty breakfasts fit for a farmer. Stay around until after the sun goes down, and you can see the engine-fired spark shows. Daily tickets are $12 for those 15 and older or $20 for a weekend pass. Gates open at 6:30 a.m. Friday through Monday. For more info call (701) 212-2034.
