BookEnds, a monthly literary event that connects readers and writers in outstate Minnesota, will not meet in January but will resume Feb. 9 with poet Laura Hansen as featured guest.
Bookends meets the second Saturday of each month at 11 a.m. at the The Uptown in Wadena unless otherwise noted. The event is held in a casual interview style with a moderator.
February's guest, Laura Hansen, is the author of two books of poetry and three chapbooks. Her book "Midnight River" was a finalist for the Midwest Book Awards. Her poetry has been featured in three anthologies and dozens of literary publications and she is a frequent winner of awards from the League of Minnesota Poets.
Others guests scheduled for BookEnds include the following: In March - Mary Krugerud, author of "The Girl in Building C"; April - Thomas R. Smith, poet laureate for River Falls and author of "Windy Day at Kabekona: New and Selected Poems; May - Lori Sturdevant and David Durenburger - "When Republicans Were Progressives"; and June - Lin Enger author of "The High Divide."
