Heart O' the Lakes Harmony Chorus will perform on Saturday, August 28 at 12:45 p.m. at the Finn Creek Museum Summer Folk Festival.

Heart O' Lakes Harmony presents a variety of music sung in four part close harmony in the barbershop style. Selections include show tunes, pop, country-western, sacred, patriotic, and, of course, traditional old time favorites.

They are a group of more than 30 men who get together each Monday night to sing and learn about the barbershop art form. They prepare for shows, competitions and performances.

Heart O' Lakes Harmony was formed three years ago when two choruses were joined together, the Detroit Lakes Area Skippers Chorus and the Fergus Falls Lakes Country Chorus. Putting together two choruses-each more than 40 years old-was a challenge. It necessitated several changes including a new name, a new practice location, the combining of officers and membership, and even a new director.

Heart O' Lakes Harmony is under the direction of Chuck Speer of Underwood. The group rehearses each Monday evening at 7 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids.
