With the help of Legacy Funding, the New York Mills Public Library is pleased to present two events this October for the entertainment and education of the community.
On Saturday, October 9 at 7 p.m., "Virginia Mae Hope" will be shown at the NY Mills Regional Cultural Center.
It is a continuation of the "Minnesota's Greatest Generation" series.
Virginia Mae Hope was a native of Winnebago, Minnesota and was a member of the Women Air Force Service Pilots (WASP) during World War II.
WASPs flew planes and performed wartime duties in the United States, allowing males to be combat pilots.

A costumed history player will engage the audience in the life story of a memorable Minnesotan.
The Accidental Hero
On Saturday, Oct 23 at 7 p.m., Patrick Dewane will tell the story of his grandfather, a man whose seemingly goofy CD radio-handle during the 1970's - "The Accidental Hero" - was really a clue to his incredible story as a World War II Czech-American soldier, fighting in the forests of his father's ancient homeland.
Dewane's grandfather, Matt Konop, rarely talked about the war, but years after his death, Dewane was handed a pile of typewritten pages that a family member had discovered in a box in the basement.
"The Accidental Hero" is an astonishing one-man play about history, the reality of war, and the mystery of heroes.
It will be held at the NY Mills Regional Cultural Center.
