Perham-New York Mills’ Brittney Lorentz competed on the second day of the state Class A girls swimming and diving meet on Saturday at the University of Minnesota after taking second in the diving preliminary.
On Friday, Lorentz recorded a prelim score of 273.65, trailing only Grand Rapids’ Addie Albrecht. She finished with a final score of 327.80 on day two for 10th place overall.
Avery McAllister also took part in the fiving prelims. She took 19th with a score of 210.70. Lorentz and McAllister finished first and second in the Section 8A championships to qualify for state.
Eighth-grader Taylor Ziemke took home a pair of 21st-place finishes on Friday in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races. In the 50, Ziemke finished with a time of 25:28 before recording a time of 56.91 in the 100.
