Haverland ~ Hardy
Sue and Dan Schroeder, along with Jeff and Pam Haverland, all of Perham, are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Dr. Nicole Haverland, Ph.D., to Blaine Hardy, son of Susette Hardy of Edmonds, Wash., and Dave and Kim Hardy of Goodyear, Ariz.
Nicole is a 2004 Perham High School graduate who went on to receive a bachelor of science degree in biology and chemistry from Minnesota State University in Moorhead, and then a Ph.D. in pharmacology and experimental neuroscience from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. She is currently a postdoctoral research associate at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. Her research is focused on the molecular classification and stratification of highly similar leukemias in order to improve diagnosis and treatment of these diseases.
Blaine is a 2005 Edmonds-Woodway High School graduate (Edmonds, Wash.). He attended Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho, where he majored in business and helped the Warriors win the 2008 NAIA Baseball National Championships. In 2008, during his junior year at Lewis-Clark, he was drafted by the Kansas City Royals during the Major League Baseball amateur draft. Blaine made his major league debut in 2014 for the Detroit Tigers and is currently a relief pitcher for the Tigers. After baseball, he plans to complete his coursework to earn a bachelor’s degree in business and computer programming.
Nicole and Blaine will be wed in Litchfield Park, Ariz., on Nov. 14, 2015. After the wedding, the couple will honeymoon in Florida. A reception is also planned in Perham, on Nov. 21, 2015.
During the baseball offseason, the couple resides in Evanston, Ill.
