2 injured in crash south of New York Mills

Sheriff deputies reported that two people were injured in a traffic accident south of New York Mills and east of the town of Ottertail early in the morning on Wednesday, Nov. 11.

The accident, at 3:54 a.m., took place near the intersection of Highways 67 and 52.

A pickup was southbound on Highway 67. The driver from Henning, a juvenile, lost control of the vehicle which entered the westbound ditch and landed on its passenger side.

A juvenile passenger from Battle Lake was seriously injured, although non-life threatening, when ejected from the pickup. The driver had a minor injury. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.

Both were taken to Tri County Hospital in Wadena. Assisting sheriff deputies were New York Mills Rescue personnel and Henning Ambulance.

Driver injured after falling asleep, crashing

A woman fell asleep at the wheel east of Henning, crashed her vehicle, and was injured near the intersection of Highways 29 and 260th Street.

The accident took place at 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10. The vehicle entered the west-bound ditch and struck small trees. The victim sustained back pain and was treated at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.

Fortunately, the woman was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Burglary reported northwest of Vergas

A report of a burglary northwest of Vergas was called into the sheriff office on Nov. 11.

Missing from the home were four boxes of CDs and an old computer. The home was also trashed. Items were scattered in one of the bedrooms and in one of the hallways.

The break-in was at Leek Lake Drive.
