WEST FARGO – A 22-year-old West Fargo man was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly assaulting his wife and biting off a portion of a taxi driver’s nose, according to a release from the West Fargo Police Department.

Officers responded to a disturbance call at approximately 3 a.m. to 1036 2nd Street East in West Fargo.

When officers arrived they learned Dominique Melax Martinez, 22, and his wife, Erin Joyce Martinez, 21, took a taxi ride from Fargo to their home at an apartment complex in West Fargo.

During the ride, Dominique allegedly assaulted Erin and continued the assault in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

The taxi driver, Makruun Ahmed Hagar, 32, of Moorhead called 911 and was also assaulted by Dominique.

During the assault, Dominique bit off a good portion of Hagar’s nose, according to the release.

Erin Martinez and Hagar were transported to Sanford Hospital and though their conditions are unknown at this time, the injuries are not life-threatening.

Police arrested Dominique for aggravated domestic assault, aggravated assault, preventing arrest and interfering with a 911 call. He was transported to Cass County jail where he is held without bond.
