Coats for Kids drive is now underway in Perham and Otter Tail County

Winter children's clothing in the store

The Coats for Kids drive is now underway in Otter Tail County. This program helps to defray cold weather clothing costs for parents who may not be able to afford it. Last year, over 1,500 coats, hats, and mittens were distributed to families throughout the county and the same number is expected this year.

Caring community members can help struggling families by simply cleaning out their closets. New or gently used coats, snow pants, boots, hats and mittens, sizes birth to adult XL are welcome. Though the program is called 'Coats for Kids,' adult coats are welcome as well, because many parents also go without the proper attire to stay warm during the cold winter months.

Donations in the Perham area can be dropped off at the following locations: Bremer Bank - Perham, Calvary Lutheran — Perham, United Community Bank — Perham

If you are in need of cold weather clothing coats will be distributed in the basement of Calvary Lutheran Church in Perham on Tuesday, October 16 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
