Ruben Gonzales Jr., 29, of Perham has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime.

According to court records, on Jan. 20 Frazee police were called to the All in All convenience store on a complaint that a man was "tweaking out" and making other customers uncomfortable.

The responding officer found Gonzales constantly moving his hands, feet and head, talking fast and mumbling his words. He admitted he had used meth two days ago and was on probation for drug use. He was arrested and taken to jail, where a microbaggie containing about a third of a gram of meth was found in his wallet.

On Oct. 30, Gonzales appeared before District Judge Gretchen Thilmony, who sentenced him to 17 months in prison at St. Cloud, stayed five years. He was ordered to serve 13 days in jail, with credit for 13 days served. He must pay $1,165 in court fees, and get a chemical dependency evaluation and follow the recommendations, including aftercare. He was placed on supervised probation for five years.
