Sheriff deputies reported thefts called in on Jan. 8, one near Battle Lake and the others near New York Mills and Perham.
The theft near Battle Lake was reported from a location on the east side of West Battle Lake. Several items were taken from a portable fish house. Total value of the items was an estimated $1,000.
Thieves took items from a vacant farmhouse north of New York Mills, west of Highway 67 in Homestead Township. The location is also east of Big Pine Lake.
Taken were a Browning shotgun, spinning wheel, TV and other items. An investigation was continuing as of Jan. 9.
The third theft took place at a construction site southwest of Perham, near Highway 49. No further details were available and an investigation was ongoing.
Fire causes damage in rural Perham
A fire shortly after midnight on Jan. 13, northeast of Perham, caused extensive smoke damage inside a residence.
The fire was contained in a wall near a wood-burning stove. Venting also was located near the fire.
The fire took place close to Highway 148 and Bear Lake, northeast of Perham.
Several items stolen near Parkers Prairie
Sheriff deputies reported several items stolen from a residence southeast of Parkers Prairie, close to Highway 69.
The owner called authorities on Jan. 13 and reported the theft of two chain saws, a five-gallon gas can, beer and socket set taken from an attached garage.
Total value of the items was an estimated $1,065.
Cattle escape from farm near Underwood
Cattle escaped from property close to West Lost Lake, north of Underwood, on Jan. 10. The owner believed the cattle went to a nearby wooded area.
Neighbors were notified. The cattle were expected to be returned to the owner over the weekend.
