Arson results in felony conviction
A resident of rural Underwood, 85-year-old David William Reynolds, was sentenced Jan. 18 in county court following a felony conviction of arson in the first degree related to a dwelling.
The case dates back to July 18, 2017.
Reynolds was sentenced to 180 days in the county jail, Fergus Falls, with credit for time already served amounting to 76 days. The judge ordered him to report to the jail no later than March 1, 2019.
He was convicted on Jan. 18, the same day as sentencing in county court.
The judge issued a stay of additional jail time at the state correctional facility in St. Cloud. The stay means that jail time will be avoided if the convicted person (Reynolds) completes successful probation.
Reynolds was ordered by the judge to complete a diagnostic assessment and follow recommendations of the evaluation.
