The Board of Directors of Henning Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center have made what it is calling "the difficult decision" to close the skilled nursing facility in Henning.

Avi Katz, CEO of Henning Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, stated that "today is a sad day for the Henning family, for the Henning community, for the residents in our Care Center and for the

employees who have cared for so many community members throughout the years."

The decision to close the facility was made because the average daily occupancy of the care center has declined in recent years and has reached a point of unsustainability. Henning Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center is working with the Minnesota Department of Health on the closure process and with representatives of other government agencies on relocation plans for the 22 residents who reside at the facility. County Officials are also involved in the closure plans. Informational meetings for residents and families have been scheduled.

Henning Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center will also be arranging employment opportunities to the facility staff at other skilled nursing facilities. "We hope many of our staff will choose to accept positions at other facilities," said Steve Katz, Chief Operating Officer for Henning Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. "If not, a job fair will allow area nursing homes to meet our employees and introduce their companies."
