UPDATE: From the Detroit Lakes Police Department: "Dennis McCombs has been found safe and is being reunited with his family after a medical check. He was located on I-94 near Alexandria. A citizen observed Dennis's pickup and called the Minnesota State Patrol and a MN State Trooper was able to pull Dennis over. Thank you to the community for your response and help."


The Detroit Lakes Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a missing Detroit Lakes man.

Dennis McCombs is 80 years old and has Alzheimer’s disease and diabetes, according to a police news release issued Saturday morning, Sept. 28.

McCombs left his residence in the Shorewood Drive area of Detroit Lakes at approximately 5 p.m. Friday in a maroon 2001 Ford F-150 extended cab with Minnesota license plates DCP026. He was wearing blue jeans and a red sweatshirt.

He was last seen in Pelican Rapids at a gas station asking for directions back to Detroit Lakes at approximately 6:30 p.m. Friday, according to the release. He was wearing a purple Minnesota Vikings polo shirt.

Police say he McCombs might have been seen at the Frazee High School at approximately 8 p.m. Friday, but that has not been confirmed, according to the release.

Anyone with information about Dennis McCombs' whereabouts is asked to call Becker County Dispatch at 218-847-2661 or their local law enforcement agency.
