UPDATE: Man dies of injuries sustained in Monday morning crash
UPDATE: James Wilcox, 39, of Henning has passed away from injuries sustained in a three-car crash on Highway 80 Monday morning, the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office stated in a press release.
Wilcox was travelling westbound in a Chevy Lumina when a Volkswagon Jetta, driven by Shania Nicole Peterson, 21, of Perham, hit his vehicle head on. The Jetta had already collided with another vehicle when it hit the Lumina.
After the crash, Wilcox was transported to Sanford in Perham and later flight lifted to a Fargo hospital where he later died from his injuries.
A three-car crash on Highway 80 in Perham left two drivers injured, one critically, Monday morning.
At approximately 7:37 a.m., a Volkswagon Jetta, driven by Shania Nicole Peterson, 21, of Perham, was eastbound on Highway 80, while three other vehicles were westbound on the roadway, travelling towards Perham. The Jetta drifted over the center line, striking a 2002 Jeep, driven by Andrew Kaiser, 32, of Wadena, causing him to skid off the roadway.
Kaiser was not injured.
The vehicle following Kaiser was able to maneuver around the crash but sustained damage from flying car parts.
The Jetta then struck a Chevy Lumina, driven by James Wilcox, 39, of Henning, head on in the westbound lane.
Pederson was transported to Sanford in Perham for non-life threatening injuries.
Wilcox sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Sanford in Perham. Later, he was flight lifted to Fargo for further treatment. His status remains unknown at this time.
The accident remains under investigation.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office were assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol with the crash.
