Sheriff deputies reported that two vehicles crashed through thin ice on Otter Tail Lake Saturday evening. Feb. 3.
One incident took place on the north side of the lake and the other on the south side. Occupants of both vehicles were able to escape, unharmed.
The first incident took place near open water at 9:37 p.m. on the north side of Otter Tail Lake, near Walker Lake. The second incident took place at 11:11 p.m. near Balmoral and near the intersection of Highways 78 and 128.
Alcohol was a factor in the vehicle incident on the north side of the lake.
K-9 assistance made to nearby Wadena County
County Deputy Zach Eifert and his dog, Mojo, assisted the State Highway Patrol east of Bluffton, in Wadena County.
Mojo sniffed some hidden marijuana in a vehicle. Law enforcement made a subsequent arrest at 10:50 p.m. on Feb. 2.
Fish house break-in
A resident of New York Mills reported a fish house break-in at nearby Rush Lake on Feb. 2.
Taken were a chisel, 20-pound propane tank and tackle box. Total value of the items taken was close to $600.
Cash was reportedly taken from a residence near Dalton on Jan. 30.
Trailer house fire in Henning
Sheriff deputies and firefighters responded to a trailer house fire in the city of Henning shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 27.
The owner of the trailer, Andy Suchy, said he dumped what he believed to be old ashes near the trailer that he uses for a shop.
The homeowner, for the most part, had extinguished the fire before the arrival of sheriff deputies and members of the Henning Fire Department.
It appeared that minor smoke damage may have taken place.
Gas drive-off near Perham
A driver took off before paying for gasoline at an establishment on Fort Thunder Road, southwest of Perham, at 5:55 a.m. on Jan. 30.
An investigation continued later in the day.
