Becker and Otter Tail Counties awoke to a sheet of ice covering many area roads this morning. The slick conditions have led to several crashes and vehicles sliding off the road.

Minnesota State Patrol Sergeant Jesse Grabow tweeted that Highway 108 between Pelican Rapids and Lake Lida was blocked with several crashes and stuck vehicles. All the incidents were minor, resulting in no injuries, just a lot of chaos and trouble getting vehicles out.

All state highways in the Becker County district are still open, though Bryan Christensen, a public engagement coordinator with MNDoT, warns they are wet and icy, and motorists should use caution when driving.

"Conditions should improve throughout the day, but motorists should drive with caution, especially over bridges, in tunnels, and overpasses where conditions can change quickly," he said.

Law enforcement is also reminding people to slow down and drive with caution or avoid the roads altogether, if possible, until conditions improve as the day goes on.
