A Battle Lake resident became a scam victim on Sept. 27, falling for an internet employment scam. Fortunately, the loss of money to the resident was no more than $50.
The $50 was for what the scam artist termed to be “an application fee.”
Corral panels stolen
Sheriff deputies said a resident north of Urbank reported the theft of two 10-by-6 corral panels, valued at $240. The report came in on Sept. 27.
Corral panels made of high-strength steel come in lengths ranging from 10 to 16 feet. They are built for light to medium confinement of livestock in working areas.
Deer stand stolen
Sheriff deputies said a resident of rural Bluffton, in eastern Otter Tail County, reported the theft of a deer stand on Sept. 29.
An investigation was continuing as of Monday, Sept. 30.
Accident reported in Maplewood Park
A driver received a minor injury when he had a medical issue and crashed his vehicle Sept. 27 on Maplewood Church Road in Maplewood State Park, east of Pelican Rapids.
Construction worker injured near Bluffton
A construction accident injured a man north of Bluffton on Sept. 25. The accident took place at 3:17 p.m. close to Highway 75 in northeastern Otter Tail County. Workers were constructing a hog shed.
Sheriff deputies said a gust of wind blew down a section of wall, trapping the victim. He was pulled out from under the wall. Authorities said the injury was non-life threatening.
One injured in car crash east of Rothsay
A male was injured in a car crash east of Rothsay on Sept. 25. The accident took place at 4:45 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 21 and 350th Street.
The vehicle was off the road and the man was unconscious when authorities arrived at the scene of the accident. The crash took place in Trondhjem Township.
