An Otter Tail County plow and pickup collided Nov. 30 at the intersection of Highways 59 and 82, south of Fergus Falls, according to the county sheriff's office.

The plow was backing up to turn around at about 9:08 a.m. and the driver of a pickup couldn’t get out of the way. The wing of the plow hit the front of the truck, causing minor damage.

County K-9 dog sniffs car for drug residue

On Nov. 28 Mojo, the county K-9 unit’s Dutch Shepherd, conducted a search in the Fergus Falls area of a vehicle formerly owned by an addict, now deceased. The vehicle had been given to a family member.

Mojo sniffed out a portion of broken glass under the driver’s seat, likely from a crack pipe that had already been removed.

The vehicle owner was advised by sheriff deputies to thoroughly clean the vehicle both inside and out.

Fleeing suspect found by county drone

Otter Tail County sheriff deputies, shortly after midnight in the early morning hours of Nov. 25, used a drone to find a suspect who had fled from authorities.

Tanner Hultin, 28, of Fergus Falls, was apprehended near the intersection of highways 35 and 124, southwest of Underwood.

Hultin had previously fled on foot after a traffic stop, according to sheriff deputies. He then fell through ice on a nearby slough, pulled himself out of the water and crawled to shore.

Deputies used the drone to find Hultin on the ice.

Hultin, who had been wanted by the Department of Corrections, was checked out at a local hospital and then taken to the Otter Tail County jail in Fergus Falls.

Sheriff deputies were assisted by the Underwood Fire and Rescue as well as members of the State Highway Patrol.

Minor injury reported in car-deer accident

One person was injured in an accident near East Lost Lake, west of Otter Tail Lake, while swerving to avoid hitting a deer. The accident took place at 11:07 p.m. Nov. 23 near the intersection of Highway 1 and Redhead Drive.

The vehicle rolled twice, later hitting pine trees. Sheriff deputies said the driver suffered minor injuries.

Juvenile accused of stealing vehicle

A juvenile in Otter Tail County is accused of stealing a vehicle. The juvenile later was found in the town of Gary, northeast of Ada in Norman County.

The juvenile was taken into custody on Nov. 23 and then transported to the juvenile center in Moorhead. Otter Tail County and adjoining counties contract with the Moorhead facility on an annual basis.

Assault reported near Vergas

One man was apprehended and charged with second degree assault following an incident at 8:53 p.m. Nov. 23 on Lake Six Road, north of Vergas.

The man was taken to the Otter Tail County detention center that is adjacent to the courthouse south of downtown Fergus Falls.

TV, other items stolen from Vining residence

Sheriff deputies reported the theft of a television and others items from a residence southeast of Vining, close to 500th Avenue.

The call came into the sheriff office at 9:53 a.m. Nov. 24. An investigation was continuing as of Nov. 25.

Homeowner warned about snow removal

A home owner north of Underwood, along Highway 18, received a warning on Dec. 1 after snow had been plowed onto a portion of the roadway.

There was a one-foot ridge on the roadway which almost caused an accident.
