Sheriff deputies, on Jan. 18, reported that a rural Pelican Rapids man was injured when his leg was caught in a snowblower auger.
Responding to the scene of the accident were members of the Pelican Rapids Fire Department and Pelican Rapids ambulance crew. The victim was transported to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.
Here are some snowblower safety tips:
- There are two basic types of snowblowers. A single-stage blower whirls the gathering/blowing auger at a very high speed. The slower-moving gathering auger of the two-stage blower has more power.
- When a hand or foot is caught in any part of the snowblower, serious injury is likely. Keep all shields in place and keep hands and feet away from all moving parts.
Spendy bicycle stolen, recovered
On Jan. 17 sheriff deputies were informed that an expensive dirt bike stolen in Pelican Rapids was recovered in Moorhead. The value of the bike was estimated at $2,500.
One reason why some of these bikes are expensive is that certain parts of these bikes are costly. An example is a Campagnola brake system for a bike valued at close to $300.
