A Detroit Lakes woman and a baby in her car were injured in a rear-end collision Saturday at Highway 34 and Highland Drive in Detroit Lakes.
Jordan Elizabeth Sawicki, 30, and Hayden Elizabeth Sawicki, who is under age 1, both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Essentia Health St. Mary’s, according to the State Patrol. Both were wearing seat restraints.
Sawicki was westbound on Highway 34 in a 2012 Hyundai Tucson. She slowed to turn southbound on Highland Drive and was hit from behind by a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica driven by Paige Nicole Dial, 24, of Athens, Alabama. Dial was wearing a seatbelt, according to the State Patrol.
Passengers in her car were Derrick Wayne Lund, 39, and Hilari Osley, 46, both of Fargo. Neither was wearing a seatbelt. None of the three people in the Pacifica were injured, according to the State Patrol.
Airbags deployed in the Pacifica but not the Hyundai.
The crash was reported on dry pavement at 6:40 p.m. Saturday. The Becker County Sheriff’s Office, Detroit Lakes Police Department, Detroit Lakes Fire Department and St Mary’s EMS assisted the State Patrol.
