Albert John Lachowitzer, age 74, of Perham, MN, died on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at the Veterans Hospital, Fargo, ND. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 8, at 11:00 am at St. Henrys Catholic Church, Perham, with Father Joe Herzing presiding. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday, March 7, from 4:00 8:00 p.m. at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation was held one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
Al was born September 9, 1931, in Perham, MN, the son of John and Clara (Schuessler) Lachowitzer. He attended school and graduated in Perham in 1951. Al worked for several local businesses such as Franklin Snowfence, Perham Produce, the Perham Creamery, Hank Krueger Construction and Hemmelgarn Construction. He was in the US Navy from 1956-57. Al married Catherine Van Erp on May 1, 1968, in Butler, MN. They were members of St. Henrys Catholic Church in Perham since May 1968. Al had been an usher there for over 30 years and a member of the Grounds and Maintenance staff since 1983. He was also the VFW Commander from 1979-81 and a lifetime member. Al retired in 1992.
Al is survived by his wife, Catherine, Perham, MN; daughters, Marie Lachowitzer, Perham, MN; and Clara Lachowitzer, Minneapolis, MN; sister, Mary Dulski, Perham, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Al is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Norbert.
